Things in Queens have changed.
A year prior to now we were all sitting in despair as we watched another season dwindle down to nothing. We were all wondering of what could be and what should be but wasn’t. Sure there was some highlights with the man with the hair, Jacob deGrom providing an unexpected quick rise and earning 2014 NL ROY.
Here we are though in last third of the MLB season in first place atop the NL East. Sure only being four games ahead is anything but insurmountable. For those of us who have been through the previous attempts at playoff baseball from the dark years of 2007 and 2008, we know nothing is a given. That though is the past, and today is a new day. Today, this year in Queens was the start of a new era.
With what is one of the best pitching staff’s this franchise has ever seen this team has been quite a surprise. We all knew the potential was there but to really think this year here we are in first place with weeks to play and the division for the taking with a floundering Washington ball club. The time is now. The future is now. It’s time to win. It’s time to bring playoff baseball back to Queens and show Citi Field what Shea Stadium already has experienced. The fans are hungry, this city is hungry, the time is now. A new era has risen.
